Text

My dear Cary

Up to now I had the feeling that the President was merely suffering from a very natural exhaustion, but the papers this morning have worried me no little. Do you mind dropping me a note telling me just how the President is? And if you get a chance, convey to him my heartfelt wishes for a quick recovery and assure him also of my devotion.

Things are looking very much better in my opinion. I wspoke before the Associated Advertising Clunbs of the World in New Orleans and the meeting endorsed the League of Nations without a dissenting vote. I also spoke before the Chamber of Commerce and when I described the achievements of the President the entire gathering rose and cheered with wonderful enthusiasm

I hate to say “I told you so,” nbut you may remember that when the President asked me about Bullitt on the boat going over, I told him that the man was nothing more than a half-baked radical without fixed convictions and without any large sense of honor.

With warm regards to you and your family,

Your devoted friend,

George Creel
